I’m Jean Waymire, a writer who has spent the better part of a decade exploring the world of casinos and gambling, and sharing my insights through articles. Born and raised in Canada, I’ve always had a curious mind and a love for storytelling. I wasn’t the kind of person who grew up around casinos or even had much interest in gambling at first. My fascination came later, when I realized that there’s so much more to the world of casinos than the flashing lights and spinning wheels.
After graduating from university with a degree in communications, I found myself working a typical desk job. It was stable, but something was missing. Writing was always a passion of mine, but I hadn’t yet found my niche. One day, during a trip to a local casino, I became intrigued by the intricacies of the industry—how it’s built on both chance and strategy, and how people’s motivations and emotions play such a huge role in the experience. That visit changed my direction.
I began researching the history of casinos, learning about the psychology behind gambling, and how the industry has evolved with technology. What started as a hobby soon turned into a career. I started writing articles about casinos, focusing on everything from game strategies and casino reviews to the impact of online gambling and the rise of mobile casinos.
Living in Canada has been a blessing because the country has a unique relationship with gambling. The laws, the cultural attitudes, and the ever-expanding market for online gaming give me plenty of material to explore. I’ve also had the chance to travel to some of the most renowned casinos in the world, like those in Las Vegas and Macau, giving me a broader perspective on the industry. I’ve even been able to compare these experiences to Canada’s own gaming hubs in cities like Niagara Falls and Montreal.
I’m often asked why I chose such a specific subject to write about, especially as a woman in what’s often seen as a male-dominated industry. The truth is, I’ve never felt out of place. The casino world, much like life, is full of diversity and surprises, and I find it endlessly fascinating. Writing about casinos isn’t just about the games themselves—although I do enjoy the thrill of a good hand of poker—it’s about the people, the stories behind their wins and losses, and the evolution of an industry that blends luck, technology, and human nature.
Today, I continue to write from my cozy home in Canada, where I balance my work with time spent in nature, another one of my passions. When I’m not writing about casinos, I’m usually hiking in the beautiful Canadian wilderness or curling up with a good book. I believe life, much like gambling, is about taking calculated risks, and I’ve been fortunate enough to turn my love for writing into a rewarding career.
